To make a Rich Cake the butter and sugar are creamed together and the quantity of these two ingredients is greater than that of flour. Elaborate cakes were frowned upon by some puritan tastes for whom cake was reserved for Sunday tea only. But today is a Friday and the end of another week, so treat yourself.
