Ash Wednesday 25TH February


Today, the first day of Lent, beginning the period of fasting and penance that ends at Easter. The name comes from the tradition of smearing the ashes from the previous year's palms on the forehead. Lent is a Moveable Feast dependent on phases of the moon. After Pancake Day follows a bread-based cake made without eggs
