Maundy Thursday 9TH April
Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper when Christ washed the feet of the disciples. The word Maundy is derived from mandatum, a commandment. The English reigning monarchs carried out feet washing on this day until 1689, since when they have given money as Maundy Doles to the value of their age.
